Description

Jails and prisons house significantly greater proportions of individuals with mental, substance use, and co-occurring disorders than are found in the general public. This short CEU course provides examples of the implementation of successful strategies for transitioning people with mental or substance use disorders from institutional correctional settings into the community.

Objectives

On completion of this course you will be able to:
1. Discuss the optimal time frame for effecting meaningful behavioral change prior to reentry.

2. Investigate the type of transition planning for individuals with mental and/or substance use disorders that can disrupt the revolving cycle of jail admissions and releases.

3. Describe how the best individual and system outcomes are achieved.
