Patria Alguila, CCHW

Patria Alguila provides capacity building and technical assistance to Migrant and Community Health Centers and others developing Promotora Programs. Ms. Alguila trains Promtores/as and front office staff on core competencies such as scope of work, popular education, service coordination and others. Part of the capacity building includes presenting on the CHW Landscape across the states in various conferences and meetings.

Prior to working with MHP Salud, Ms.Alguila was a Lead, Community Health Worker where she provided one-on-one health risk assessment and education regarding chronic diseases, nutrition and exercise. She also supervised 4 CHWs. Ms. Alguila has also worked with other community health organizations providing HIV/AIDS testing and counseling for over 5 years. As an HIV counselor she provided outreach in community, HIV/AIDS education, and HIV testing. Ms. Alguila engaged a wide variety of ethnicities and cultures on this mission.

Ileana Ponce-Gonzalez, MD, MPH

Ileana Maria Ponce-Gonzalez, MD, MPH, is Senior Advisor for Scientific and Strategic Planning at MCN and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Washington. She obtained a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Nicaragua, a Clinical Genetics degree at the University of Chile and a Master in Public Health degree at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland. Before joining MCN, Dr. Ponce-Gonzalez worked as a Scientific Review Officer (SRO) for the Division of Scientific Review at the Agency for Health Care Quality Research (AHRQ), and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for twelve years.

Dr. Ponce-González is an expert in infectious diseases, community health and public health administration. She has more than 14 years of experience in the development of health care programs and outreach initiatives for marginalized communities. Dr. Ponce-González has worked extensively in rural areas, with diverse sectors of the community, as well as the state and public health systems of the federal government in three different countries: Nicaragua, Chile and the United States.
